Old Masters

      The Hanoi Art scene continue to develop quickly and standards of many Galleries and the presentation of their exhibitions has improved greatly over the past three years. Joining the growing number of new spaces in Minh Chau Gallery which has chosen to specialized in the work of Vietnam's master painters among whom are Duong Bich Lien, Nguyen Tu Nghiem, Nguyen Sang,Bui Xuan Phai, Nguyen Gia Tri and Tran Van Can.

      The Gallery with two floors of exhibitions space and its collection have their origin in a private family collection, according to Ms. Minh Chau, director of Gallery " My family loved and collected art and it was an ambition of mine to open a Gallery to show collection to the public". Although the gallery opened in July 2001, it took a long time to set up. There was a lot of research that went into finding the right location. Before I settled on this space. I had already been to almost 40 locations. I decided on the present location because it is peaceful,safe and central.

      " We currently have a staff are three and myself. At the moment I am planning to hold three exhibitions-group shows-a year. They will consist of work by old masters. Each exhibition will have about five painter's works. I also plan for individual artists' exhibitions, but we must settle first. When we sell a piece we will provide a certificate of authenticity".
